ICD-10 Ready

Become ICD-10 Ready. No Software Upgrade Required.

Medical Manager ICD10: We’ve Got You Covered

As the October 1, 2015 deadline for the implementation of ICD10 diagnosis codes draws near, Harmony Healthcare IT (HHIT) is actively helping Medical Manager® users ready their practice management systems for compliance.  While there are a number of technical steps that must be taken to equip Medical Manager for handling the new ICD10 code set — costly software upgrades or multi-year software support contracts are NOT required. If this is the plan your current software support provider has laid out for you, contact us immediately to learn about other another option.

Moving Forward to Become ICD10 Ready

In addition to HHIT performing the tasks necessary to technically “ready” Medical Manager for ICD 10, there are many other details and/or processes that the practice will need to address.

On behalf of its customers using v9-v11 of The Medical Manager®, HHIT has submitted test transactions to Waystar. These transactions meet all ICD-10 requirements based on ANSI guidelines, and, are ready for successful transmission to payers.

There are various resources available to help start that internal planning process.  Start out by reviewing the CMS Website at http://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Coding/ICD10/ for more details.

ICD-10 Frequently Asked Questions

Can Medical Manager handle ICD-10?

Yes. Medical Manager is capable of handling ICD-10 when paired with Waystar, a claims clearinghouse that complies with the mandate and submits claims in the ICD-10 format.

When will ICD-10 impact our practice?

According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), on April 1, 2014, Medicare will accept paper claims on only the revised CMS 1500 claim form, 02/12; and on and after April 1, 2014, Medicare will no longer accept claims on the old CMS 1500 claim form, 08/05.

Also according to CMS, on October 1, 2015, ICD-9 code sets used to report medical diagnoses and inpatient procedures will be replaced by ICD-10 code sets.

I was told that I “need” to upgrade Medical Manager to Version 12 to be ready for ICD-10. True?

No, you can meet the ICD-10 mandate without a costly Version 12 upgrade or temporary software patch to Medical Manager. All it takes is enrollment with Ziremd, a claims clearinghouse that complies with the mandate, and an affiliation with a practice management support firm that can appropriately modify billing formats and intake fields.

How do I protect my investment in Medical Manager?

By keeping it! Years or even decades ago, you made a smart investment in one of the then-leading practice management systems on the market. This is a proven financial system that has successfully performed time and again as the very heart of your practice cash flow. So, keep it and be sure to surround it with other reliable third-party tools to make it operate optimally. These sorts of tools include a claims clearinghouse that complies with the ICD-10 mandate and also offers a variety of real-time revenue cycle management services.
